For the last 53 years summer in Central Illinois has started with the Tremont Turkey Festival. This year, everyone is invited “Down Home” for the 53rd annual festival, which rolls into town on June 8, 9, and 10.   Located in Tremont’s City Park, the Turkey Festival is a family-friendly weekend full of food, fun, and entertainment.

Come over and treat yourself to the legendary turkey sandwiches, homemade strawberry shortcakes, and many more delicious Turkey Festival specialties.

There are a few changes in store this year.  The Miss Tremont Pageant will kick off Turkey Festival week on Sunday, June 3 at 3:00 p.m. in Tremont High School Cafetorium.  Four of Tremont’s sweetest young ladies will participate and one of them will be crowned Miss Tremont 2018.

Merchant’s Day is on Thursday, June 7.   There will be several local vendors to visit on Tremont’s Main Street from 9:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.  Beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday night, the carnival will be open for ‘Buddy Night’, which allows two people to ride a carnival ride for the price of one.

On Friday & Saturday, food lines will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., or until all of the turkey is gone.  Come back on Sunday for food from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., or until all of the food is gone. The carnival will open at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, and 11:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Advance Carnival tickets can be purchased at Beecham's Grocery, Eli's Coffee Shop, Tremont First National Bank, Tremont Oil Company, Tremont Community Bank, and Tremont Village Hall.

Returning for its 10th year, the Turkey Express will be offering car hop service for turkey sandwiches, soda, water, chips, Little Gobbler meals, and strawberry shortcakes. Conveniently located at the High School parking lot, Turkey Express provides a way to enjoy the flavors of the festival on the go.

There is no admission fee to attend the festival. There is also free entertainment, parking, and shuttle services.

Due to the congestion around the turkey express, the Park & Ride Shuttle was moved to the junior high school parking lot last year.   The junior high school parking lot is just south off Route 9 on West Street, on the west edge of town.  West Street is the road right before the High School on Rt 9.
