Goldman “Lee” Trantham, 84, passed away on January 10, 2013 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. He was born on September 9, 1928 in Rover, MO.
He is survived by his swife, Mary Sexton Trantham of Bell Buckle, TN; one daughter, Debra Bennett, Bell Buckle, TN; one son, Rick (Rebecca) Trantham, Ashland City, TN; four grandchildren - Ryan Lee (Tabitha), Laura (Ryan), Travis Burton, Mary Brooke Hooper; eight great-grandchilren; one sister, Polly (NF) Judd, Washington, IL and one brother, Carl Trantham, West Plains, MO.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hade Trantham; his mother, Clara VonAllmen Trantham and his son-in-law, George P. Bennett.
Lee served in the Army and worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company. He loved to sing and play gospel music. He could play any stringed instrment, as well as the piano. A few of his music awards included SPBGMA Bluegrass Music Awards Midwest: 1) Male Vocalist of the Year (contemporary); 2) Entertainer of the Year and 3) Fiddle Performer of the Year.
