For skater Kyle Shropshire, ice skating has always been part of his life.
With his mother as a skating coach in the Algonquin area, he started skating at the age of 2.
Now, Shropshire will be one of the skaters bringing Disney on Ice presents Worlds of Enchantment to the Peoria Civic Center.
Disney on Ice will be at the Civic Center Arena from Sept. 27-29 for a total of six shows. Tickets range from $18 to $103 and can be purchased on Ticketmaster.com, the Disney on Ice website or the Toyota Box Office.
Growing up, Shropshire was a four-time National Competitor and double Gold Medalist in Moves in the Field and Freestyle.
In 2014, shortly after high school graduation, he joined Feld Entertainment and Disney on Ice.
"I've been in about three different shows," he said.
In his current show, Shropshire is playing Woody in the ice version of Toy Story 3, which he said is his favorite Pixar movie.
Other movies that have been taken to the skating rink for the performance include Frozen, The Little Mermaid and Cars. Shropshire said Worlds of Enchantment is the only Disney on Ice show to have Cars on ice.
With his return to Illinois, Shropshire said his sister and friends will be able to come see him skate, and he'll be able to go see family on his days off as well.
Overall, he said Worlds of Enchantment brings a unique performance not seen by other Disney on Ice shows.
"It's a jam pack show with characters that everyone loves," Shropshire said.
