Pumpkin Boat Races and Bags & BBQ are set to begin at noon on Saturday, September 11 at Kennel Lake Sportsmen’s Club as part of the Morton Pumpkin Festival.


The community can attend to watch local celebrities race against each other in 500-pound pumpkin boats! After the big boats set sail at noon, kids are welcome to bring their own built boats for the Mini Pumpkin Boat Regatta. In thanks to the sponsor, Morton Nena Ace Hardware, a model cargo boat is on display at their store where kids can go purchase their supplies to build their own! Pre-registration for the Mini Boat Regatta is encouraged, but on-site registration is also available.


In addition to the boat races, Kennel Lake is also hosting the Bags & BBQ tournament which kicks off Saturday at 2:30 p.m. It is a double elimination tournament with the winning team receiving 50 percent of the registration fees.


A silent auction, 50/50 fundraiser, and vendor fair will provide fun for all those that attend.

Other Pumpkin Festival activities held at Kennel Lake will include the Fishing Derby on Sunday, September 12, and one round of the Disc Golf Tournament on Saturday, September 18. Registration for both competitions can also be found on www.mortonpumpkinfestival.org.

The 2021 Morton Pumpkin Festival “Pumpkins, Tailgates, and Traditions” will be held Wednesday, September 15 - Saturday, September 18. The Morton Pumpkin Festival generates resources to allow the Morton Chamber of Commerce to fulfill their mission to strengthen business and enhance community at a superior level through the implementation of a unique event that builds a sense of community among the people who live and work in Morton.
