District 709 new teachers and administrators

The Morton Community Unit School District welcomed the following 31 new teachers for the 2019-2020 school year:

Lettie Brown Elementary School – Mindy Hartzler, Kelsey Kirk and Melissa Risner

Ward Grundy Elementary School – Baylie Craig, Clint Baldwin and Jill Jones

Jefferson Elementary School – Christine Seneca and Justin Tilford

Lincoln Elementary School – Sara Sheldon, Jennifer Auxier and Jaime Farrell

Morton Junior High School – Sarah Gorshe, Josh Ames, Moriah Millburg and Megan Bolliger

Morton High School – Tim Gray, Chase Bushman, Eric Myers, Jace Mortimer, Sarah Isacksen, Helen Plevka, Chad McFarland, Tiffany Beard, Josh Smith, Michelle Towner and Amy Kelly

Morton Academy – Deborah Moore

New administrators

Morton High School welcomed Mr. Matt Oyer as the new Assistant Principal and Dean of Students for students whose last names begin with A-L. He earned his undergraduate degree from Illinois State University and his Master's in Educational Leadership and Administration from Saint Xavier University. Matt previously taught in Deer Creek - Mackinaw and North Pekin - Marquette Heights District 102 as a special education teacher. Matt spent the past four and a half years as a Dean of Students at Pekin High School.

The Morton School District is pleased to announce that Mrs. Deidre Ripka has taken on a new leadership position as the principal for Morton High School. Mrs. Ripka has been serving at Morton High School the past 14 years.  The past three years she served as dean and assistant principal, and prior to that she served as school counselor for 11 years.

The mission of Unit School District 709 is to serve the Groveland-Morton community by stimulating a desire for life-long learning, graduating productive individuals, and challenging all to achieve their highest potentials as active participants and leaders in a dynamic, global society.
