The Village of Morton will have a place to dispose of landscape waste for at least the next two years.
The Landscape Waste Project contract with R&R Services of Illinois Inc. was renewed through 2021 at the July 15 Morton Village Board meeting.
The cost for each year, which includes both the spring and fall cleanup, will be $39,157.72.
In other news, the board:
* Approved the Fiscal Year 2020 appropriation ordinance.
* Tabled discussion on changes to the Building Improvement Grant requirements.
The requirements were not ready for the board to review, and members wanted to wait until the changes were written out before they vote on them.
The proposed change would let larger projects over $20,000 be able to start on the overall project while waiting on the grant for a certain part of the project that has not been started.
An example of this was approved at the meeting for Emerald City Investments. The overall project cost of renovating the old Morton Blacksmith Shop is $27,050, while the $10,000 grant that was approved will go toward replacing windows and adding garage doors. While the project was started a few months ago, that part of the project has not begun.
* Approved the purchase of a 2020 Kenworth T370 Lo Pro Cab & Chasis for the Street Department for $86,916, and the purchases of an installed dump body, hydraulics, salt spreader, snowplow and accessories for the truck for $86,851.
