Businesses and community leaders from Morton and beyond gathered to reflect on Morton’s progress in 2019, shared opportunities from the supply chain economic network for 2020, and recognized the innovation and job growth with 2020 Venture Award recipient, Bobby Hambrick, during the Morton Economic Development Council (EDC) Annual Symposium on Thursday, January 30, 2020.
The Symposium was held at Caterpillar Product Support & Logistics Division and was sponsored by Morton Community Bank, catered by The Cookery, Four30 Scones, and Eli’s Coffee, and decorated by So Chic Boutique. Innovation greeted the attendees before entering the building with an AutonomouStuff Lexus on display for an up-close sneak peek.
Presenting to just over 100 community stakeholders, Darren Martin, Caterpillar Dealer and Customer Services Manager, presented his keynote entitled, “Caterpillar: The Razor and Blade Business,” and discussed the value the local facility brings to the corporate framework and Morton’s economy.
The event also featured a video summary of the EDC’s 2019 efforts, as well a celebration of the 2020 Venture Award recipient, Bobby Hambrick, Founder, President and CEO of AutonomouStuff. Bill Morton, the 2011 Recipient of the Venture Award, presented the award to Hambrick who founded his company in 2010 and has continued to be a driver in building Morton and the greater central Illinois’s workforce and innovation network.
“The Economic Development Council Board selected Hambrick’s nomination as the 2020 Venture recipient to recognize Bobby’s leadership, entrepreneurial spirit, job growth, innovation and global impact calling Morton, Illinois home. It is an honor to recognize his impact and the network of opportunities ahead,” says Leigh Ann Brown, CEO of Morton Economic Development Council.
