Named one of the world’s top ten, must-see exhibitions by CNN, “The Art of the Brick” is now open at the Peoria Riverfront Museum.

Created by renowned contemporary artist Nathan Sawaya, “The Art of the Brick” features more than 100 works of art constructed entirely from LEGO bricks and glue. The collection includes original pieces, as well as re-imagined designs of some of history's most famous works of art such as Van Gogh’s “Starry Night’ and Veneers “Girl with a Pearl Earring”.

An interactive area, “The Science of the Brick” is also included in the exhibit and gives visitors the opportunity to play games, complete challenges and build creative structures.

Sawaya, a lawyer turned professional artist, first debuted his collection in 2007. He now travels the globe telling his story of following a passion and promoting his belief that “art isn’t optional”.

Sawaya will be at the Riverfront Museum on August 10 to talk about the exhibit and give a presentation on the importance of creativity. “The Art of the Brick” will be on display at the Museum through September 2.
