GospelFest Ministries will present a free concert of gospel music featuring the New Speer Family from Nashville, Tennessee, along with the GospelFest Singers and Choir under the direction of Shawn Degenhart, on Saturday, July 6 at 7 p.m. at Five Points Washington.

The New Speer Family was formed by Brian and Allison Speer last year to honor their family’s heritage as the “first family of gospel music”. The quartet also includes Ben Waites and Mike Allen. Both Allison and Ben have been involved in several summer and Christmas-time GospelFest programs over the past 14 years. Brian is the son of the late Brock and Faye Speer, and his wife Allison has had a successful solo career and has been a part of the Gaither Homecoming videos for almost 30 years. Mike has sung bass for many groups including the Weatherfords, LeFevres, Palmetto State Quartet, and was the resident bass singer for many years on the Gaither Homecoming videos and tours.

Shawn Degenhart has been presenting the annual summer GospelFest concerts since 1999. These southern gospel events feature the GospelFest Singers and Choir, local singers from throughout the area that enjoy singing southern gospel music.

The GospelFest Camp Meeting Hymn Sing with the New Speer Family is free and open to the public. A love offering will be taken which will support future concerts and projects from GospelFest Ministries. The concert begins at 7 p.m. but doors open at 6 p.m.
