The Community Foundation of Central Illinois (CFCI) is pleased to announce a donation in the amount of $75,000 from the Caterpillar Foundation to the Central Illinois Disaster Recovery Fund. The Caterpillar Foundation’s contribution will support CFCI’s work to provide grants to community-based organizations assisting local residents who are most affected by emerging health, economic and social impacts.
Mark Roberts, President and CEO of CFCI, states: “CFCI is thankful for the generosity of the Caterpillar Foundation. This donation significantly increases the support we will be able to offer our nonprofit partners who are working to provide emergency food, basic supplies, shelter, and much more to our community.”
“The work of the Community Foundation of Central Illinois is vital to the short-term response and long-term recovery of our community from COVID-19. Through the Community Foundation's Disaster Recovery Fund, our region will have access to resources that will allow important services and non-profit activities to remain in place. We are grateful for the generous assistance of the Caterpillar Foundation to help Central Illinois respond and recover from the COVID-19 crisis. More than ever, we need leadership from corporate partners and I greatly appreciate that the Caterpillar Foundation is stepping forward to help lead the way,” says State Representative Ryan Spain. Representative Spain is currently leading the Donations subcommittee of the Peoria County / City of Peoria Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
“The Caterpillar Foundation is focused on building more sustainable and resilient communities, helping them emerge stronger together during this unprecedented time,” said Asha Varghese, Caterpillar Foundation President. “We are proud to partner with the Community Foundation of Central Illinois as they work to meet critical local needs in Caterpillar communities, including support for basic human needs, healthcare and children.”
The Central Illinois Disaster Recovery Fund will provide flexible financial support to nonprofit partners within the CFCI service area (a 50-mile radius of the city of Peoria, IL excluding Knox and McLean Counties), who are responding to increasing needs as a result of COVID-19. For the first cycle, applications are due Wednesday, April 29, 2020. Organizations may apply for up to $5,000. The application can be found on our website: communityfoundationci.org.
