Mavis Kaiser-Hermann

Mavis O. Kaiser - Hermann, 94, of Morton, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.

She was born April 26, 1928, in Gaylord, MN, to Chris and Julia (Massner) Grimm. She married Kenneth D. Kaiser on December 14, 1947, in Oakville, IA.  He preceded her in death on November 11, 1999.  She later married Donald E. Hermann on January 2, 2002, in Morton.  He preceded her in death on May 9, 2011.  Mavis was also preceded in death by seven brothers, one sister and three great grandchildren. 

Surviving are her children, Vickie (Gary) Greene and Julie (Michael) Shafer, both of Morton, and Doug (Cindy) Kaiser of Scottsdale, AZ; five grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; four sisters-in-law; stepchildren, Becky (Roger) Roeschley of Morton, Dave (Kim) Hermann of San Antonio, TX, and Sara (Greg) Peters of Champaign, IL; and numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

Mavis worked at Witzig’s Department Store as a department manager for many years and later worked at Anthony’s Beit Shyben Floral Shop, both in Morton. 

She was a member of the Morton Apostolic Christian Church. Mavis was known for her family Sunday dinners, filled noodles, and growing beautiful flowers.   

The family would like to thank the dedicated staff of Apostolic Christian Restmor for the loving and compassionate care they provided to their mother for over six years.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at the Morton Apostolic Christian Church, with church ministers officiating. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton and from 9-9:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will be in the Morton Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Apostolic Christian Restmor or the St. Jude Runners’ Association.
