Charles R. Brandt, 96, of Washington, IL, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at Snyder Village in Metamora, IL.
He was born to George and Meta Jensen Brant on August 23, 1926, in Peterson, IA. He married Mary Jane Womack on August 27, 1950. She passed away on September 30, 2016. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Phyllis Tibbetts.
Surviving are his children, Rebecca A. Brandt of Washington, IL, Steven (Lori) Brandt of Arlington Heights, IL, Linda Brandt Pinney of Ankeny, IA; two grandchildren, Brandon Pinney of Denver, CO, and Kristen (Robert) Pinney Stratton of Tempe, AZ.
Charles was a WW II U.S. Army Veteran. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1948 and received his MEA from Bradley University in Peoria in 1965. He worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company from 1956 until his retirement in 1989.
Charles was a member of Washington Presbyterian Church, where he taught Sunday school and was a former church elder. He was also a Washington District Library Board member for 10 years, a volunteer escort at Proctor Hospital for 10 years, a member of the Masonic Lodge in Sutherland, IA, the Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Peoria, and the Society of Automotive Engineers.
Private family services will be held at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington, IL. Private family burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Peterson, IA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Washington Fire Department or the Washington District Library. Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
