WCHS cross country girls win IHSA Sectional

On Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022, the Washington Community High School girls' cross-country team won the IHSA Sectional held at Black Partridge Park in Metamora with a score of 43 points. Dunlap took second with 64 points. WCHS freshman Sophia Ramirez finished second overall with a time of 17:22, behind Joy Dudley from Morris who won with a time of 17:26. For WCHS, Olivia Nordhielm finished fourth and Jayne Hermann was sixth. Maddie James was 14th. Then Sophie Nordhielm, Allie Woolever, and Caylie Ahten came in together in 17th, 18th, and 19th. Bailey Butler, Olivia Miklik, Maggie Horsthemke, and Addy Hooste were alternates. The girls’ and boys’ teams will compete at the IHSA State Meet next Saturday at Detweiller Park.
