With the IHSA decision to eliminate post-season play for high school varsity basketball, conferences throughout the state considered the idea of holding local conference championships.  The teams within the Mid-Illini Conference agreed to a post-season Tournament March 11-13.  To get to the Championship game, Washington defeated Dunlap and Canton while Metamora defeated Limestone and Morton.  Washington, regular season winners and top-seed, hosted Metamora on Saturday, March 13 at 6p.m.  Washington broke the game open during the second period, extending a 10 point lead to 22 points after a 12-0 run. Metamora responded with a scoring run of their own and nearly got the deficit down to single digits, but Washington’s scoring burst proved to be too much to overcome. The Panthers led 51-32 at the end of the third period and ultimately secured the Mid-Illini Tournament Championship with a final score of 69-52. Team players, coaches and support staff celebrate their win, closing out a combined 17-0 Mid-Illini Conference regular- and post-season record.
