Select Washington Community High School student athletes were recognized during the WCHS Spring Sports Awards Night event held on Thursday, May 30, hosted by the Panthers Boosters in the high school’s multi-purpose room. WCHS Athletic Director Herb Knoblauch served as Master of Ceremonies for which varsity letter winners and special award winners were presented.

During the event, the boosters recognized first team all-state wrestlers Jace Punke, Jared Head, Brody Norman, Zeke Hulet, Joey Cape and Abe Hinrichsen, as well as first team all-state tennis players Ethan Sabotta and Jake Valencic.

Sierra Sonnemaker was the academic all-state award winner and was also honored as the Jan Smith Sportsmanship Award and Dorothy Foster Inspirational Award winner. The Bob Neuman Sportsmanship Award went to Cole Ludolph, who was also honored with the Kenny Hyder Memorial Award alongside Sierra Sonnemaker.

The Evan Knoblauch Memorial Award winners, given to students lettering in three varsity IHSA sports or activities, included Sophie Baer, Joe Basso, Jacob Binegar, Baylor Clark, Caden Davidson, Georgia Duncan, Leo Edwards, Benn Jane, Brday Klein, Morgan Klein, Tripp Lersch, Ashley McMurray, Josh Madsen and Sierra Sonnemaker.
