The performance is open and free to the public; tickets are not required, but for planning purposes attendees are encouraged to indicate they will attend in the Facebook event listing on the Live at Five Points Facebook page. A few words from Spoony of Spoony & The Bootleggers, “I played for my first time five years ago when I was 14. I played with Little Joe and Stumpy Joe. That was the first time I had met them. They didn’t have a drummer, so I told them I had my spoons with me, and I sat in with them. For the next several years, I sat in to play spoons with them every once in a while.

A few years later, the guys and I had the idea to start a band with Stumpy Joe, Little Joe, my dad (Jim Chad), and me. We all settled on the name ‘Spoony & The Bootleggers’. We have been playing roughly a year and a half since and we have been having fun playing in central Illinois and meeting all the people along the way.”

The Five Points Friday’s event is the eighth in a series of music performance events. The series is made possible by sponsorships from: headline sponsor MTCO Communications; Live@Five sponsors Hometown Community Banks, Trane, Uftring Automotive, Ameren Illinois, I Do Events, Create A Scene, Washington Dentistry and Nicole Miller Edward Jones Agency.

Five Points Washington opened in 2007 and is a self-sustaining, not-for-profit complex that uses fitness center user fees, rental revenue and event admission sales to finance day-to-day operations. In addition to its new outdoor event space, the facility houses a 1,020-seat performing arts center, event/banquet/meeting rooms, a fitness center/gym and an aquatics center.

The next event in the Five Points Friday’s series is scheduled for September 17 with Black Velvet. A full listing of events is available on the Live at Five Points Facebook page or by visiting FivePointsWashington.org. For more information, call (309) 444-8222.
